Alternatives

Notta Alternatives for Transcribing Recordings

Notta is a meeting notes app whose free plan transcribes only the first 3 minutes of each recording, so people with longer files often look elsewhere. We make RocketScribe, so it's listed first; the rest are ranked by how well they fit people who mainly transcribe recordings.

Prices and limits of other products checked in October 2026 on their own websites. They change often; check the vendor's site before you buy.

Why people look for a Notta alternative

Notta does a lot for meetings. Its bot joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Webex, it has web, mobile and desktop apps, and it labels speakers even on the free plan. It also imports YouTube videos and Google Drive or Dropbox files on every plan.

The free plan is the main reason people leave. It gives 120 minutes a month, but transcribes only the first 3 minutes of each recording, and you need Pro to download a transcript file (copying the text works on every plan). Pro, at $13.49 a month or $8.17 a month billed annually, includes 1,800 minutes and 100 file uploads a month. Files can run up to 5 hours, or 3 hours with speaker identification, and link imports get no speaker labels. Unlimited minutes need Business, priced per seat, and uploads there are still capped at 200 per seat a month. Notta supports 58 languages.

How to choose

Start from the job you need done most often, then compare the limits that matter for it.

  • Live meetings: Otter, Fireflies and Transkriptor all send a bot to your calls. RocketScribe, TurboScribe and MacWhisper do not join meetings.
  • Many recorded files: compare the per-file length, how many files you can upload, and the monthly price. RocketScribe and TurboScribe both let free users transcribe 3 full files a day.
  • Human accuracy: Happy Scribe sells human transcription from $2.00/min alongside its AI plans.
  • Offline or private: MacWhisper runs on your Mac, so audio does not have to leave the device.
  • Other languages: Happy Scribe lists 150+, MacWhisper 100, TurboScribe 98+ and RocketScribe 90+, against Notta's 58.

How we checked

We read each vendor's pricing page and help center in October 2026 and used only what they state. Where a vendor's own pages disagreed, we left that point out, and "Not stated" means we could not find it. Prices are in US dollars unless marked, and "per user" means the vendor charges per seat. Notta's web prices can differ from its App Store and Google Play prices. Plans change often, so check the vendor's page before you pay. RocketScribe's details come from our own product.
